复活节的由来按《圣经?马太福音》的说法，耶稣基督在十字架上受刑死后的第三天复活，因而把春分节(3月20日或3月21日)当日见到满月或过了春分见到第一个满月之后，遇到的第一个星期日设为复活节。如果满月恰好出现在第一个星期日，则复活节再推迟一周。因此，复活节的时间大致在3月22日至4月25日之间。
（英文原句为：“Easter, anniversary of the Resurrection of Christ, observed on the first Sunday after a full moon on or after 21 March.”）【注：原来，复活节那一天，是经由三个历法（分别是西历、中国阴历、星期）合并出来的，怪不得它会如此飘忽不定了！】
