　　“交通管制”可以用英文traffic control表示，即出于某种安全方面的原因对部分或者全部交通路段的车辆和人员通行进行的控制措施。除了有道路交通管制，还有空中交通管制（air traffic control）。交通管制人员可以用traffic controllers 表示，英语口语里经常用lollipop³ men表示帮助儿童安全过马路的男交通指挥员。

　　阅兵演练活动（rehearsals of military parade）将于8月13日和15日每日22时30分至次日4时在天安门地区及长安街沿线举行。届时，将限制演练区域的交通流（traffic flow），包括车流量和人流量。长安街沿线五个地铁站在特定时段通过不停车（be closed to the public during the rehearsals）。

　　除了交通管制，北京还采取了一系列措施保障纪念活动顺利开展，如单双号限行政策（traffic restrictions⁴ based on even- and odd-numbered license⁵ plates），关闭一些产生扬尘的建筑工地（construction sites that generate dust will be asked to shut down）、部分学校延迟开学（schools postpone⁶ opening）等。
