英语词汇：almost易错用法说明

误：He almost worked all day.

正：He worked almost all day.

析：almost 通常应放在被修饰语之前(如遇动词be, 情态动词, 助动 词等, 则可置于其后)。以上误句由于 almost 放在 worked 之 前, 其意为“差不多工作了(但实际上未工作)”, 不合原意。以 下一句也属同样错误：

◎我们当中几乎每一个人都读过这本书。

正：Almost every one of us read the book.

误：Every one of us almost read the book.

析：以上误句由于 almost 放在 read 之前, 其意为“差不多读了 (但实际上没有读)”, 不合原意。

◎这远远不是你想像的那样容易。

误：It’s not almost so easy as² you think.

正：It’s not nearly³ so easy as you think.

析：一方面, 英语习惯上不说 not almost, 另一方面, not nearly 是习语, 意为“远远不是”、“根本不像”等。又如：I can earny some money, but not nearly enough to live on.(我 可以赚些钱, 但远远不够生活)。

◎几乎没有人相信他说的话。

误：Nearly no believed⁴ what he said⁵.

正：Almost no believed what he said.

析：no, none⁶, nobody⁷, nothing, never等词连用时, 通常要用 almost 不用 nearly。

◎大多数人都同意马上离开。

误：Almost of the people agreed⁸ to leave at once.

正：Most of the people agreed to leave at once.

析：almost 是副词(几乎, 差不多)，不要将其与 most(大多数)混淆。
