We are starting this week with terrorist attack in the shopping mall that turned into hostage situation.This happened in east Africa nation of Kenya, and capital city of Nairobi.The west gate shopping mall is a popular place for Kenya's peoples from other countries. On Saturday people were desperate to get out of the mall, some hidden stores, bar,and stairwells. Kenya soldiers and police officers responded after the gunmen stormed the building and started shooting,68 people were killed and at least 175 others were injured. On Sunday evening, the Kenya's military said most of hostages inside the west gate mall have been rescued,they were making every effort in end the situation, and extreme a group called Al said he is responsible for the attack,is based in Somalia, country that borders Kenya, and is affiliated to Al-Qaeda,the terrorist organization that responsible for attacks around the world.The west gate mall in Nairobi is what security experts consider as a soft target,the place might have light security where the terrorists could potentially cause more damage.Margret Kanly examined safety measures of this type of occasions.May be more than 7000 miles from Nairobi of Kenya to United States, but the mall masker have around the world and could bring the tragedy in closer to home.Washington.DC resident has inside the mall when the shots were fired.She kept hidding in the stairwell while dozens of others in chaos and folded. So We just waited,and I'm in the stairwell for about one hour and half, there are two individuals with me who have superficial gun shot ones. The attack in the so-called soft target raises more questions about more security in USA soil.Could what happened overseas happen here? Soft targets are always attractive to terrorists because they are usually defended, is a very effective way of causing lot of panic and lot of damage very quickly, achieving object of terrorizing people.
