【英语早间课堂】你理解我的话吗?(在线收听

Good morning, my buddies. Welcome to my class in the morning. I’m Juliet.A saying goes, “An hour in the morning is worth two hours in the evening. ” So, I hope we can spend a wonderful and meaningful morning together.

We have a way to express a speaker wants to know if someone understood what he said. Guess what it is. Let’s listen to the following mini situational dialogue to get the answer.

A:How are we going to pass this exam?

B:We’ll just study all night. Are you with me?

Well, have you got the answer? It is “Are you with me?”, which is like asking “Have you understood me so far?” It’s similar to saying in Chinese——你理解我的话吗?For another example: Are youwith me onthis.(译文:这点你听懂了吗?)

If somebody asks you if you are with him, you could say”I get it.” Let’s listen to another mini situational dialogue.

A:You need to be at the airport at 7 a.m. Are you with me?

B:Sure, I got it. I’ll be there on time.

In addition, this short sentence, “Are you with me?”, can express if you support him or back him up. For example:Are you with me or against me in this matter?(对于这件事,你是赞成还是反对我?)(In this sentence we can see that the sentence “Are you with sb?” is the contrary of the sentence “Are you against sb.”)

Some phrases in the above dialogues should be kept in our heart. They are as follows:

all night(整个晚上),study all night(通宵达旦地学习),pass the exam(通过考试),on time(准时),at the airport(到达机场)。

So, today, we’ve learned two short sentences used in spoken English. One is that——Are you with me?The other is that——I get it.Finally, I would like to ask you a question. Are you with what I’ve talked about. I think you must get all of them.

My dear listeners, let’s call it a day for now. Thank you for your listening this time and see you next time.
