Yu Yanshan, the director of China's energy policymaking body's planning department, has become the target of a corruption investigation, sources close to the situation said to Caixin. Yu is accused of manipulating industry research reports, a source familiar with the matter said. Yu was to attend a forum in Beijing on November 15, but the event's organizer said he had not been able to get in touch with Yu since November 14. No government body has provided information about the case. Yu was in charge of power industry policy studies and publicity when the State Electricity Regulatory Commission was merged into the NEA in 2013. The energy sector is tightly controlled by the government and has become a focal point of the party's crackdown on corruption. Five NEA officials became the subjects of corruption inquiries from April to June, among which included Liu Tienan, former director of the NEA, who was charged with bribery and abuse of power last June.

业内人士指出，国家能源局发展规划司司长俞燕山成为了贪污调查的对象。相关负责人表示俞涉嫌操控产业研究报告。11月15日，俞理应参加在北京的论坛会，但是论坛组织者称自从11月14号就与俞失去了联系。没有政府机关对此次事件提供任何消息。就在国家电力监管委员会于2013年与国家能源局合并之时，俞负责电力监管政策研究和新闻宣传工作。能源产业受到了政府的严格管控，并成为了中央打击贪污的重点。从4月到6月，已有五名国家能源局官员成为了反腐调查的焦点人物，其中前国家能源局局长刘铁男，去年6月他因涉嫌贪污和滥用职权而遭到指控。
