访谈录 2009-04-14&04-16 德怀恩·韦德的火锅秀(在线收听

The feeling, um, of blocking a shot in that moment, you know, you leave your feet and you go up, and once your hands make contact with that ball, and you see that ball sent back the other way. You know it’s just a sign of, you know, not in my house, you know, not right now".

“Dwyane Wade with another spectacular block! Got in the way! Another Block! Reject it! Oh, baby! Get that shot out of here!”

One thing I enjoy about shot-blocking, I mean even when I was in high school and college, was the simple fact that I'm not supposed to be a shot blocker. And me, being 6'4 and block someone's shot that’s 7 foot. Um, you know (it) is about timing and the right time to jump. I'll tell you that.

"Sent it back at the 7-footer."

He's got great instincts for such a guard player (at) 6'4. He’s got good length, great athletic ability but incredible courage.

Actually as a shot blocker, you ought to have the mentality that, you know, I don't care about your dunk doing, I'm gonna save position.

"Oh! What a block by Dwyane Wade!"

This season we didn't have a big (guy) at all and begin another season. There wasn’t like Alonzo, or like Shaquille O'Neal, so I have to go down there to help our team meet more.

Our normal defensive schemes have our weak side guys come over, and put their bodies in front of people. A lot of times it take a charge, but with Dwyane early on, he kept on coming over and coming to block shots, so we had to alter our defense.

I get a lot on the ball as well, you know when a guy try to, you know, pull up on me, I’ll time at some time, I time and dribble.

Terrific timing!

I get them a lot, I get them on a brick, I mean just one on one, you know I chase somebody down, and I wanna time it, um, to get him.

I say one of the most memorable blocks in my career would probably be the one on Amare Stoudemire, because when I blocked it, I grabbed it and I threw it up.

"This is gonna be goals, (Oh! Oh!) Yes! yes!"

This season, um I'll have to say the two blocks back to back on a rookie in New Jersey, Brook Lopez.

Lopez was there at the rim pretty much by himself, Dywane came over and was able to block it to seal the win for us at home.

"Wade did it again! He did it again!"

Of course nothing gets you team fired up more than you dunk on someone, but nothing gets me fired up more than me, you know, get an unbelievable block to say it again--"Block by wade!"

I'm not really a Mutombo kinda guy. I’ll not do this, because you know I'm not a 7-footer that stands down the paint, but I'm a guy who try to make sure that they think about it when they come down there.

"Well there is your best shot blocking guard in the world!"
