Secretary of State Rex Tillerson affirmed in remarks to the United Nations Security Council that the greatest threat to the security of the United States and the international community remains¹ the North Korean regime. North Korea's growing capabilities² reflect a direct threat to our security, and the security of the entire world, he said.

Over the past year, many allies and partners of the United States have joined in these efforts. We ask these nations to continue to increase pressure through unilateral action, said Secretary Tillerson. Doing so will further isolate¹¹ North Korea politically and economically, cutting off support for its nuclear weapons program.

Russia has continued to allow North Korean laborers¹² to toil¹³ in slave-like conditions inside Russia in exchange for wages used to fund North Korea's nuclear weapons programs. Similarly, Chinese crude oil continues to flows to North Korean refineries¹⁴.
