[07:50.83]stars or bands,but many of us also want to discover new sounds and rhythms².
[07:59.58]Here is a brief look at some of the exciting musical styles from around the world.

[08:11.96]The blues is a way for people to show who they are and what is in their heart
[08:19.33]People have been playing the blues for many years,
[08:24.66]but the music has kept many of its characteristics⁴.

[08:34.27]that people used to sing when they worked and during festivals.
[08:40.05]The African songs met American music when African slaves⁶ were brought to the US.
[08:47.91]The blues has been part of African-American culture since then,

[08:59.43]Other musical styles,like jazz and rock music,have all come from blues music.

[11:28.22]Rock and pop music are becoming more and more similar,
[11:33.47]but there are still some important differences.

[12:44.21]The singers and musici ans are all able to write music and work together in a band.
