意大利电信公司收购美国在线子公司

This week's good news for Italian telecommunications company Telecom Italia is that they are buying AOL's biggest subsidiary for 675 million euros: AOL's German division, which has over one million DSL subscribers. This fits well with Telecom Italia's plan to build more Internet-related business around the fixed-line part of the company. TI had far more bad news, however. Italian police have just arrested 20 people, mostly policeman and private investigators¹ employed by the company. They are accused of using phone company systems to spy on judges, journalists, politicians and secret service agents connected to recent government scandals. Two high-profile arrests were Giuliano Tavaroli, who was recently Telecom Italia's head of security, and Pierguido Iezzi, the current head of security at Pirelli, which is the largest shareholder² in Telecom Italia's parent company.
