　　And the media asked, "Amanda, the music business is tanking and you encourage piracy¹.  媒体会问，“Amanda，音乐产业在衰亡，而你鼓励盗版。

　　How did you make all these people pay for music?"  你是如何让这么多人为音乐付钱的？”

　　And the real answer is, I didn't make them. I asked them.  我真正的答案是，我并没有逼迫他们，我所作的是请求他们。

　　And through the very act of asking people, I'd connected with them,  通过请求他人帮助，我与他们建立了联系

　　when you connect with them, people want to help you.  情感相通之后，人们就愿意帮助你。

　　It's kind of counterintuitive for a lot of artists.  对于很多艺术家来说，这似乎不合逻辑。

　　They don't want to ask for things. But it's not easy.  他们不愿意请求帮助。不过这并不容易。

　　It's not easy to ask. And a lot of artists have a problem with this. Asking makes you vulnerable². 开口提出请求是一件不容易的事情。很多艺术家都不愿这样做。请求帮助可能会让你很脆弱。

　　And I got a lot of criticism online, after my Kickstarter went big, for continuing my crazy crowdsourcing practices,  Kickstarter（为创意项目募资的平台）上的项目发展壮大之后，我继续在人群中募资的行为在网络上招来了很多批评，

　　specifically for asking musicians who are fans if they wanted to join us on stage for a few songs in exchange for love  尤其是邀请喜欢我们音乐的音乐人上台与我们一同演唱几首歌曲，

　　and tickets and beer, and this was a doctored image that went up of me on a website.  换取门票、啤酒，加深感情，这是某网站刊登的一张处理过的我的照片。

　　And this hurt in a really familiar way.  这种受伤的感觉很熟悉。

　　People saying, "You're not allowed anymore to ask for that kind of help," really reminded me of the people in their cars yelling³, "Get a job."  人们说，“你现在已经没有资格再这样请求帮助了，”这让我想起那些在车里对我大喊“找份工作去”的人们。

　　Because they weren't with us on the sidewalk,  他们没有和我们一起站在人行道上，

　　and they couldn't see the exchange that was happening between me and my crowd, an exchange that was very fair to us but alien to them. 他们没有见过我和人们的交流，一种我们认为公平，他们却从未体验过的交流。
