 The top stories from ABC news. The owner of the racing¹ yacht Wild Oats XI Bob Oatley has died. The 87 year old had been badly in illness in the leadup to the recent Sydney-to-Houbart Race. The yachtsman and winemakers bought Wild Oats XI won the Sdyney-to-Houbart Race 8 times. Firefighters in Western Australia have contained a massive blaze, which is not yet under control. Combo wind conditions have allowed crews to build containment² lines around the fire, which has a premature³ around 230 km. Several emergency warnings remain in place for the fire that has raged for 5 days, and claimed 2 lives.

Today marks the 5th anniversary of the January 2011 floods in Queensland southeast. The deadly floods * through to W and Lockyer valley, and V Brisban. The damage will top to 2 billion dollars. 

And American actor Shawn Penn has been credited for helping⁴ recapture notorious Mexican drug lord Joanquin El Chapo Guzman. Penn interviewed Guzman at his jungle hideout at October for rolling stone magzine. Mexican authorities say the meeting help them trap down Guzman on Friday and they plan to extradict him to US.
