Barnaby Joyce is refusing to rule out a comeback as deputy prime minister, but rejects claims his successor is merely warming the seat for him. Mr Joyce quit after intense scrutiny¹ over his affair with his former staffer and a separate sexual harassment² allegation. He says he doesn't expect to return to the top role.

New reports emerged overnight of more crude and racist posts under the same alias⁶.

The US president Donald Trump⁷ has criticised officers who reportedly did not confront the gunman in the Florida school shooting. Speaking to the National Governor's Association Mr Trump criticised a number of sheriff's deputies who waited outside while the shooting happened suggesting he would've helped the students. He also continued to push the idea of arming teachers.

Some of Australia's medal winners from the Winter Olympics have returned home. The team finished 23rd on the medal tally⁸ with two silver medals and one bronze. Jarryd Hughes, silver medalist in the snowboard cross, says the successes have laid a great foundation for the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing.
