Japan has reportedly withdrawn¹ from the International Whaling Commission in a bid to resume commercial whaling. Japan's Kyodo news agency says the decision will be announced by the end of this month. It comes as pro² and anti-whaling members of the IWC have been stuck in decades of confrontation³ over the practice of whaling.
