During their meeting on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Osaka, Japan, Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump¹ agreed that the two countries will restart economic and trade consultations² on the basis of equality and mutual³ respect.

Trump also said that the U.S. will not add new tariffs⁴ on Chinese goods.

For a further look at the agreement reached between the two presidents at the G20 summit, CRI's Tu Yun spoke⁵ to Professor John Kirton, Co-Director of the G20 Research Group, the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, at the University of Toronto.

He elaborated on the reason why the U.S. should not decouple from China.
