2. British officials say American jets continue to be involved in the military operations near Basra. Officials say jets today dropped two precision-guided bombs on a suspected militia stronghold north of the Iraqi city.

3. The truck driver involved a fiery crash on a western Massachusetts interstate has died. The driver of the fuel tanker swerved to avoid a car and crashed into a guardrail. Interstate 91 was shut for hours as more than 10,000 gallons of fuel burned.

4. Sydney, Australia's icons went dark for a night. The lights were turned off on the famed Sydney Opera House as well as the Harbour Bridge. The lights-out event is part of Earth Hour, an effort to call attention to climate change.
