Eight candidates for FBI director have been interviewed at Justice Department headquarters as President Donald Trump¹ searches for James Comey's replacement². Trump told reporters he could make his decision public before leaving for the Middle East and Europe on Friday.

Emmanuel Macron was inaugurated as the new President of France on Sunday in Paris. The 39-year-old immediately launched into his mission to shake up French politics, world economics and the European Union.

A group of Venezuela's opposition³ members staged a demonstration⁴ outside the headquarters of the National Guard in Caracas, protesting what they say is repression⁵ by authorities. Protesters held banners and chanted as they gathered outside the National Guard building.

Russian state television showed President Vladimir Putin playing the piano in Beijing. Putin was waiting to hold bilateral⁶ talks with Chinese leader Xi Jin ping on Sunday.
