Labour Secretory¹ Alex Acosta faces growing calls to resign, over how he handled the sex trafficking case as a federal prosecutor². Acosta was involved in the plea deal that allows financier Jefferey Epstein to avoid federal charges of molesting³ teenage girls.

A federal court in New Orleans could strike down former President Obama's health care law. The court is considering a lawsuit⁴ brought by 18 states that claims the law's insurance mandate⁵ is unconstitutional.

Up to nine inches of rain left floods across huge areas of south-central Nebraska. The deluge⁶ closed parts of high ways. Dive teams were sent to help people trapped in their homes.

And the National Weather Service says Anchorage, Alaska has set 9 new daily high temperature records in the last 11 days. The state is also dealing⁷ with dozens of wildfires, prompting authorities to institute a widespread burn ban.
