A cannibal of a craft, tricking herself forth² in the chased bones of her enemies.  就像吃人部落的战士，用他杀死的敌人的骨头做饰物。 

All round, her unpanelled, open bulwarks³ were garnished⁴ like one continuous jaw⁵, with the long sharp teeth of the sperm⁶ whale,  船的舷墙像大鲸鱼的下颚，

inserted there for pins, to fasten her old hempen⁷ thews and tendons to.  而舷墙上用来拴绳子的木桩确确实实就是抹香鲸的牙齿，

Those thews ran not through base blocks of land wood, but deftly⁸ travelled over sheaves of sea-ivory.  船上的滑轮是海里的象牙制成的，

A noble craft, but somehow a most melancholy⁹!  “裴廓德号”是一条高贵的船，也是一条忧郁的船，

All noble things are touched with that.  世间万物，凡高贵者似乎都有些忧郁的品质。
