 The fusillade, the rockers chattering¹ tells you that magpies³ are in the neighborhood. Magpies have always had a rascally⁴ streetwise image. They featured in anti-theft campaigns on television in the 1980s and long before that their kleptomaniac⁵ tendencies were celebrated⁶ by Rossini in his opera The Thieving Magpie².
