A filler word is a word or phrase¹ that has no real² meaning³, it just gives the speaker⁴ a chance⁵ to pause⁶ during⁷ conversation⁸.

填充词没有实际的含义，当你在聊天的间隙突然忘词，词穷或者需要思考的时候，用来填补这段时间的一些词和句子。

They are also useful⁹ because they can help you to sound more like a native¹⁰ speaker. It just helps making your language¹¹ sound more natural¹² and relaxed¹³.

同时它会让你的英文听起来更加地道，更加自然放松。
