Q: Ronaldo, you did a very good job in the World Cup and then you decided¹ it  was time for a change. Why did you choose Real Madrid?
R: Because it is the best squad27 at the world. True that I had a good performance at the World Cup, but then I decided I wanted to be happy in a club that could help me, so that it was not only about me helping³ the squad². Madrid was the best choice to do that.

Q: You have a lot of friends at Real like Robert Carlos, Figo, Zidane. Has your transfer⁴ to Real been influenced by this fact?
R: Yes, I have lots of friends that either are playing or have played in Real, and all of them have spoken wonderful things about the Club. Roberto, Figo, Raúl are all great players that I know personally. I hope the rest of the team will be happy too because I just want to be one more player in Real.

Q: Did you ever think that the negotiations⁵ with Inter⁶ would not succeed?
R: It seemed to me that it was never going to happen. There was a lot of pressure on me from Milan people, but I trusted President Pérez29 at all times and everything worked out just fine eventually. We have been through difficult moments, but my will was always to join Madrid. I have always been firm about my decision to join this Club. Now all that is behind and I just want to make all Madrid fans happy with my play and goals.

Q: How do you feel physically⁷?
R: I have to do more work because I have trained by myself most of the time. I have to talk with the physical trainer and the coach.

Q: Finally what is your message for Real Madrid fans?
R: I just want to thank them for their affection30. I am going to do my best to make them happy. I want them to enjoy the football played by the team.
