 Residents in Saint George in southern Queensland are hoping a make-shift levee will hold back the worst of the record flood threatening the town.The Balonne river is expected to pick just over 14 meters this morning.About 30 homes have already been flooded but that could rise when the flood  peaks.

 
 
In other news,reserve bank is tip to cut interest rate again when it meets.Many economists are tipping the cash rate will be cut by a quarter of one percent to four percent.The Big Four banks are under intense pressure to pass on any cut inflow.
 
 
The debate over a budget surplus is set to continue when federal parliament resumes today.The Oppositions Finance Spokesman,Andrew Robo is refusing to commit a coalition government with surplus in its first term.The government is promising to have the budget back in the black next financial year while Mr.Robo says he doesn't believe that will happen.
 
 
Syrian troops have stepped down.They are assault on the city of Homs *.More than 50 people have been killed in the latest fighting.United Stated has closed its embassy domestics said Syrians has failed to adequately responded to its security concerns.  
 
 
And there's been a low key start to celebrations to mark the Queen's 60 anniversary on the crown.The small town of well-wishers broke a freezing weather to wait the Queen join to a visit to a town hall.Queen also made a visit to a near by school.
