The first horse vaccine for the deadly Hendra Virus will be released today, the disease has killed four people and dozens of horses over past two decades. Authorities hope this new vaccine will help stop the virus being transmitted through humans.
 
The former labor MP Craig Thomson has lanuched a scathing attack aganist the federal government's asylum seeker policies. He's accused his former colleagues of pandering to redneck views. The crossbencher is particularly critical of a plan to excise the mainland from Australia's migration zone.
