It doesn't escape me for one moment that so much joy in my life is thank to so much pains in someone else's.
I'm always so personally fascinated by the idea of giving awards for so subjective a thing. What, for you, what does it mean?
Well, it means that my work is appreciated. It means that I've got to played a woman, a character and a real woman who touched people.
The film also took home best picture as the cast and production team savored their winning moment including someone who is a part of both, Brad Pitt.
It's an incredible experience. It's previliged to be a part of the story, but it was Steve who found our story.
I dedicated this award to all the people who have injured slavery and twenty one million people who still suffer slavery today.
For seven weeks, the crew shot the film in the unforgiving 108 degree heat of Louisiana summer.
