世界餐饮业巨头的中国战略(在线收听

Braised meat with rice, stir-fried pakchoi, clear soup, and don't forget the soy sauce. It's a typical meal in China. But would you believe these dishes were made by American fast-food giant Yum! Brands, which is trying to sell Chinese food to the Chinese. Yum! the parent of restaurant chains like KFC and Pizza Hut is launching a new fast food chain called East Dawning in China.

The potential for a, to sell the Chinese fast food is huge. Because at all the day, Chinese will eat more Chinese food than any other food. So,it's a tough challenge, but we think we probably are the best thing there is to crack the code.

And there is reason for Su to be confident. Stand on one of Shanghai's many street corners, you can often find not one, two,not even 3 but 4 KFC chicken restaurants. Young Chinese eagerly take your order. At the company's 1,600 KFC outlets, about a third the number in the United States but growing by 1 a day. Customers munch on fried chicken as well as some less conventional dishes like Peking Duck wraps with spring onion. Yum!,earns more from its business here than in the US. And as the economy grows, it's finding ways to tap China's newly rich.

I'm here in Shanghai at a newly refurbished modern restaurant that's packed with some of China's young professionals. What's the restaurant? It's a Pizza Hut.

Yes, it's really, is very very popular.

Yes, snails is on the menu here.

Pizza Hut is today the, probably the first experience a lot of Chinese will have with western food. China's evolving, the people are changing. And people's preference, people's standards for,for taste for body is increasing everyday.

Just ask Wang Kun why she comes to East Dawning twice a week.

The service here is very good. The restaurant is clean, and the food is good for Chinese people.

Yum!'s proven recipe here for success.
