French voters elected centrist Emmanuel Macron as the country's youngest president ever Sunday, delivering a resounding victory to the pro-European former investment banker. His far-right opponent Marine Le Pen called Macron to concede defeat after voters rejected her French-first nationalism by a large margin.

Five Boko Haram commanders were released in exchange for the freedom of 82 school girls kidnapped in Nigeria by the extremist group three years ago. The government's confirmation at the prisoner swap came one day after the young women were liberated.

An 18-year-old has been charged for his alleged role in a shooting that wounded two plain-clothes Chicago police officers as they sat inside an unmarked vehicle. Authorities say Angel Gomez is suspected of driving the vehicle in which two shooters were riding.

A rescue ship arrived at an Italian port with 731 migrants on Sunday. The migrants were rescued off the Libyan coast on Friday in several different operations.
