A 21-year-old Wisconsin man accused of kidnapping 13-year-old Jayme Closs and killing her parents went to court on Monday. Charges against Jake Thomas Patterson include international homicide, kidnapping and armed burglary.

A stretch of Interstate 5 north of Los Angeles was reopened, after snow stranded the drivers for hours. Storms are forecast for parts of California on Tuesday. And evacuations were ordered in some wildfire-burned areas.
