August’s home 奥古斯特的家
August lived in a little town in Europe called Hall. 奥古斯特住在欧洲一个叫霍尔的小镇上。
It is on a wide river which has green meadows and great mountains all about it. 霍尔镇坐落在一条宽阔的河流上,周围有绿色的草地和群山环绕。
It has paved streets and charming little shops and a grand old church. 它有铺好的街道,迷人的小商店和一座宏伟的老教堂。
Then there is the Tower, looking down on a long wooden bridge, and the broad, rapid river. 高塔俯视着一座长长的木桥,还有宽阔湍急的河流。
August’s mother was dead, his father was poor, and there were many mouths at home to feed. 奥古斯特的母亲去世了,父亲很穷,家里有许多人要养活。
He had been sent on a long errand one afternoon and had been delayed. 一天下午,他被派去执行一项长期的任务,因此耽搁了。
He was half-frozen, but he kept up his courage by saying over and over again to himself, “I shall soon be at home with dear Hirschvogel.” 他冻得半死,但他还是鼓起勇气,一遍又一遍地对自己说:“我很快就会回家,呆在亲爱的赫施沃格尔旁。”
He went on through the streets and at twilight reached his father’s house. 他走在街上,黄昏的时候到了他父亲的家。
