A Sydney man and teenage boy are in custody for allegedly trying to breach foreign fighter laws. Counter terror police arrested 24-year-old Mehmet Biber and a 17-year-old boy during raids this morning. Biber allegedly travelled to Syria in July 2013 to fight alongside Al Qaeda affiliate, Jabhat al Nusra. The teenager is accused of trying to travel to Syria.

Amirah Droudis stood trial in the New South Wales supreme court accused of killing the woman at a unit block in 2013. The victim, who can't be identified for legal reasons, was stabbed 18 times before being doused in petrol and set alight.

Hundreds of workers will lose their jobs with the closure of the Hazelwood Power Station in Victoria. The plant in Latrobe Valley employs about 750 people including contractors. The company said about 250 workers would remain at the power station between 2017 and 2023 to manage the site's rehabilitation.
