The Reserve Bank has left official interest rates on hold at 1 point 5 per cent at its most highly anticipated board meeting for almost three years. The decision caused the Australian Dollar to rise from around 70 to 70 point 4 US cents and the local share market to lose most of its earlier gains. The official cash rate target has now been on hold for 30 consecutive meetings.

A protester has attempted to egg Scott Morrison while the Prime Minister was campaigning at Albury in regional New South Wales. The egg didn't break, and security quickly removed a young woman who was attending the CWA event. Mr Morrison returned to help a bystander knocked over in the commotion.

A UN review of the state of nature, has found there will likely be grave impacts on humanity from unprecedented declines in biodiversity. The report was based on systematic reviews of 15 thousand scientific and government sources.
