It's the first such maneuver of the 10-meter-long robotic arm, which can lift objects weighing up to 20 tons.

The president has declared an emergency in the city of Almaty and the western Mangistau Province.

The country's interior ministry says over 200 people have been detained during the unrest and nearly 100 police officers have been wounded.

In response, Russia says Kazakhstan can solve its own problems and it's important that no one interferes from the outside.
