1. Flights are being delayed around the country after a communication failure at a Georgia facility that processes flight plans for the eastern half of the US. The Federal Aviation Administration says there are no safety issues and officials are still able to speak to all pilots.                 

2. Hurricane Gustav is roaring over southwestern Haiti with top sustained winds of nearly 90 miles an hour. Oil prices are higher, amid fears the Category 1 storm could threaten oil operations in the Gulf of Mexico. It could become a Category 3 hurricane before entering the central Gulf Sunday.

3. Senator Hillary Clinton checked out the podium where she'll address the Democratic Convention tonight. The one-time candidate is still drawing lots of attention, especially from those upset she's not the nominee. Meantime, John McCain's campaign launched a new ad quoting Clinton's past criticisms about Barack Obama and Democrats are bickering about how hard to hit back.

4. Federal authorities are now saying a possible assassination plot against Barack Obama posed no credible threat. Four people have been arrested after police say one of them was found to have rifles, a bullet-proof vest and walkie-talkies in his truck. They are facing only gun charges.
