Like so many of us, 56-year-old Allena Hansen, went out to walk her dogs, two of them, in fact, in the woods, on her property in southern California. She never expected to be attacked by a bear and not just any bear, a 150-pound black bear. She really suffered some injuries, severe facial injuries before her dogs named Decoy and Arky chased that bear away. Here is what she has to say.

"My first sensation was that it was a little tiny bear, but what a bully. Then I found myself down on the ground. I heard "chomp, chomp, chomp". I felt it go through my skull. Uhm, I felt it bite through this eye. I heard, you know, kind of a squishy, crunchy pop. I went "there goes my eye." Then it got a hold of my face and started shaking, you know, worrying it and I could feel it tearing off. I could feel the blood, you know, the wetness I could see it dripping, I could hear it whooshing. And I think the one thing that seemed most vivid to me was watching that little bugger spit my teeth out."

"Wow Allena, (Wow, Jesus) is so lucky. That's the one thing she didn't mention those little dogs going after the bear. It wasn’t a 600-pound bear, (Yeah) but did a lot of damage."

"It, really a lot of damage and they kept nipping at the bear to get the bear to run away, I mean, how fortunate for her. If she'd been alone, can you imagine that?"

"No, fortunate that she is alive and going to be ok. We are happy to report California Fish & Game authorities have called off their search for that bear in fact...."
