    Almost heaven, West Virginia-Blue Ridge¹ Mountains, Shenandoah River. Life is old there, older than the trees, younger than the mountains, growing like a breeze. Country roads, take me home to the place I belong, West Virginia, Mountain Mama. Take me home, country roads.
    All my memories gather *round her, miner*s lady, stranger to blue water. Dark and dusty, painted on the sky, misty² taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye.
    I hear her voice. In the morning hours she calls me. The radio reminds me of my home far away. And driving down the road, I get a feeling that I should have been home yesterday, yesterday.
