Ukraine's Defence Ministry¹ says its troops detained two members of an armed insurgent² group on Wednesday. The Ministry claims they were engaged in intelligence gathering³ near Ukraine army checkpoints in the Donetsk region.

Pictures supplied by the Defence Ministry showed a variety of weapons said to have been taken from the two men. The Ministry said both men have confessed to being agents of Russian intelligence organisations.

According to a spokesman for the Defence Ministry, the two men are members of an illegal armed unit and were caught near checkpoints of the army’s anti-terrorist units.
