In Japan, hundreds of overseas Chinese have taken to the streets to protest against the CEO of APA Hotels, Toshio Motoya.

The rightist hotel tycoon has come under fire after distributing and placing factually incorrect books in the rooms of his hotels. The publications deny several historical events, including the Nanjing Massacre, and imperial Japan's sex slavery atrocities during the second world war. Those who rallied on Sunday, carried banners with slogans reading "boycott APA", "China and Japan are friends" and "cherish peace".

Peaceful marches took place from Tokyo's Shin-Ju-Ku Central Park, and ended at an APA Hotel in the Shin-Ju-Ku neighborhood. APA hotels were chosen as one of the two designated hotels for the upcoming Sapporo Asian Winter Games. Both China and South Korea have protested against APA Hotels, with the latest demonstrations bringing out some of Japan's right-wing supporters.

"As you just saw, we did not make noise, we did not damage anything, neither did we bother other pedestrians. We were just demonstrating quietly, expressing our appeals with our banners. But what is the outcome?" A protester said.

"I hope that the Japanese will learn more about the true history, will not say anything contrary to historical facts, and will not hurt the feelings of peace-loving Chinese," A protester said.
