民政部:中国初步形成多层次养老服务体系

 China had 222 million people aged¹ 60 years or older as of the end of last year, accounting² for 16.1 percent of its total population, a senior official announced last Tuesday.

一位高级官员上周二表示，我国60周岁(含)以上老年人口已达2.22亿，占总人口的16.1%。

China has established a preliminary multilevel senior service network that incorporates home, community and institution-based care, Deputy Civil Affairs Minister Gao Xiaobing said.

民政部副部长高晓兵表示，我国已初步形成了以居家为基础、社区为依托、机构为补充的多层次养老服务体系。

Gao acknowledged that improving elderly care services was "a pressing task" in China's building of a moderately prosperous society.

高晓兵同时还承认，发展养老服务业是全面建成小康社会的"一项紧迫任务"。

The official vowed³ to fully⁴ open up the senior care service market to help provide services.

政府承诺将全面放开养老服务市场来帮助提供服务。

By the end of 2015, China had 6.8 million nursing beds for the elderly, an average of around 30.8 beds for every 1,000 elderly people, according to the Ministry⁵ of Civil Affairs.

据民政部表示，截至去年年底，全国养老床位数达680万张，每千名老年人平均拥有床位30.8张。
