The Opposition¹ Leader Bill Shorten has announced Labor² will establish an anti-corruption³ watchdog within its first year of government, if it is elected. Mr Shorten says a National Integrity Commission would have similar powers to a standing⁴ Royal Commission and investigate alleged⁵ systemic corruption in the public sector⁶. The Commission would make findings of fact and refer cases to federal prosecutors⁷ when appropriate.

ASIC is alleging unconscionable conduct and market manipulation in relation to CBA's involvement in setting the bank bill swap¹¹ reference rate between 31st January and the end of October in 2012.
