An emergency warning has been issued for an out-of-control blaze burning near Bega in New South Wales. Meantime, at least 10 homes have been destroyed by the fires which are roaring through Victoria's south west. Authorities say it's a "dynamic weather environment" and 29 aircraft and 280 firefighters are tackling the outbreaks.

The weather bureau says there's a chance another tropical cyclone¹ will form off the Northern Territory coast, days after cyclone Marcus wreaked² havoc³ across the top end. Darwin and surrounds have been battered⁴ over the past 24-hours by the category two system which has brought down trees and powerlines across the city.
