The Home Affairs secretary has revealed there is little chance Australians stuck in northern Syria will be brought home. Mike Pezzullo told senate estimates that despite a ceasefire in the area, it is still too dangerous to remove women and children in detention¹ camps there. The families of those stuck in Syria have pleaded with the federal government to help them get out of safely from the country.

Police have charged a man with sexually assaulting a woman in Melbourne's north. Officers say a 32-year-old woman was walking her dog in a park on Saturday night when a man pulled out a knife, pushed her to the ground and sexually assaulted her. A 21-year-old man has been charged with rape², false imprisonment³ and theft. He will appear at Melbourne magistrates⁴ court today.
