 Adam was¹ waiting for his friend Sarah. 亚当在等他的朋友莎拉。

He saw² her across³ the street. 他看到她过了马路。

Her head was down, and she was looking at her phone. 她的头低着，正在看自己的手机。

She was always texting someone⁵. 她总是给别人发短信。

"Hey, Sarah!" Adam said⁶, waving⁷ to her from the street corner. “嗨，莎拉！”亚当喊道，在街角向她挥着手。

But she didn't hear him because she was busy with her phone. 但是她没有听见，因为她在忙着用手机。

Then she stepped⁸ into the street and started to cross. 随后她准备过马路。

Adam saw a car coming. "Look out!" Adam shouted. 亚当看到一辆车开了过来。“小心！”亚当喊道。

Sarah looked up and saw the car. 莎拉抬头看到了那辆车。

She quickly stepped back and stepped on someone's foot. She apologized⁹. 她迅速地往后退，可是猜到了别人的脚。她向那人道了歉。

The car passed, and she crossed the street. Adam shook¹⁰ his head. 汽车开走了，她过了马路。亚当摇了摇头。

"Hi, Adam! Sorry about that," she said. “嗨，亚当！很抱歉。”她说道。

They started walking and talking. 他们边走边谈。

Sarah started telling Adam about a small problem¹¹. 莎拉告诉了亚当一个小问题。

But Adam wasn't listening. 但是亚当没有在听。

This time, Adam was busy with his phone. 这一次，亚当开始忙着用他的手机了。

He started smiling because of a text⁴. 因为一则短信，他笑了起来。

Sarah stopped walking. But Adam didn't notice¹² and ran¹³ into a bench¹⁴. 莎拉停下了脚步。但是亚当没有注意到，而是撞上了一条长椅。

"Adam! I was talking to you. Weren't you listening?" she asked. “亚当！我在和你说话。你有听吗？”她问道。

"Sorry, Sarah," he said and put away his phone. "Please tell me again." “抱歉，莎拉。”亚当说道，并且放下了自己跌手机。“请再说一遍。”

They sat¹⁵ down. Then both their phones buzzed¹⁶ at the same time. 他们坐了下来。之后两个人的手机同时响了起来。

They looked at their phones and then at each other. 他们看了看自己的手机，又互相看了看。
