 　　Roosevelt sets production targets at a hundred and twenty-five thousand airplanes罗斯福定下生产目标，包括12万5千架飞机

　　seventy-five thousand tanks and ten million tons of ships.

　　This is the "Victory Program"

　　这是“胜利计划”

　　But victory is uncertain and very far off.

　　但胜利既难以确定又遥遥无期

　　American opinion is flagging and exploit is needed to shore it up美国民心士气日渐低落，需要有些英勇轶事来鼓舞人心A daring plan is devised.

　　有些大胆计划开始成形

　　An aircraft carrier, the USS Hornet, were attempted to get as close to Japan as possible with a squad¹ of 16 B-25 bombers².

　　一艘航空母舰大黄蜂号企图驶到最接近日本之处，舰上有16架B-25轰炸机This is the first time that such a large plane will be taking off from the compact deck of carrier in battle.

　　这是首度有这么大型的飞机在战斗中自航空母舰甲板起飞The air crews are trained by Air Force colonel Jimmy Doolittle担当此任务的机员由空军上校吉米杜立德所训练once a famous racing³ pilot. He will command the raid.

　　他曾是知名的竞速飞行员他将担任此次突袭的指挥官The mission seems impossible or the long flight over to Japan.

　　看起来是一个不可能的任务，因为到日本的航程太长These planes are too heavy in terms of bomb and fuel.

　　But they succeed in taking off.

　　但飞机成功起飞

　　Their mission will be celebrated⁴ in a popular feature film "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo"这次任务后来被拍成电影传世，片名叫做“东京上空三十秒”

　　They drop 16 tons of bombs, cause only a minor⁵ damage他们投下16吨重的炸药，破坏不大

　　but this is a huge slap in the face for the Empire of rising sun.

　　but he brings them all over to setup an ambush⁹.

　　Admiral Yamamoto is on his way at the head of the biggest armada ever put together.

　　山本上将已在征途上，在数目远胜以往的大型舰队中打头阵Two hundred battle ships and above all an exceptional fleet of 8 aircraft carriers一共出动了两百艘战舰，更重要的是史无前例的8艘航空母舰transporting nearly 6 hundred planes.

　　On board are five thousand Japanese marines and a painter who's come along to immortalize the battle, Fujita.
