 One down and a billion, the estimated population of cockroaches¹ on the planet to go. The capture in one bug² barely makes a difference, especially when the dust mites³ have landed. There are up to 100,000 of them living in one square meter of carpet. The vacuum just makes things worse. It stirs up the dust, sending the bugs⁴ flying, and any mites that had sucked up are soon replaced. Because dust mites don't suit to eat skin and defecate, they also have lots of sex. Females lay up to 300 eggs in their lifetime. The * went the war on the shag pile. They've lost one battle on the bedding. Mrs Smith is a mass murderer. At least 50,000 dust mites exterminated⁵ in a 60 degree hot wash.

Meanwhile, undeterred by his soaking earlier, this * is gearing up another impossible mission, to infiltrate⁶ the master bedroom. Navigating⁷ the maze⁸ of pipes and plumbing⁹ has proved a tough task, but the male house spider is driven by an insatiable desire for female company. Mrs. Smith isn't what he had in mind, and she is in no mood for company either. 

15:00 hours, and all members of the Smith family have left the building. The coast's clear for a new assault. The house is being booby trapped. Garden spiders usually usually build webs outside. This one is trying the launch for size.

1 cockroaches
