Scott Morrison has echoed Donald Trump¹'s call to have China's status as a developing nation removed, and face tougher trade obligations. In a speech in Chicago, Mr Morrison says China should not receive the concessions² enjoyed by smaller countries because of its self-declared status with the World Trade Organisation³. The federal opposition⁴ disagrees, saying China is still an emerging economy.

Paypal Australia says it's co-operating with regulators to investigate whether its online payment platform is being used by child exploitation rings in Asia. The financial crimes watchdog AUSTRAC says it's had ongoing⁹ concerns about compliance¹⁰.
