 From NPR News in Washington, I'm Lakshmi Singh.Hurricane Isaac is * towards New Orleans coast is expected to make landfall by early tomorrow, the seventh anniversary of hurricane Katrina. Some people are evacuating1, others such as Georgina Moor2 are placing their faith in levies3? reinforced after Katrina. 

I think it is a test of the city and although wonderful things we put in place that they tell us working and we don't know that but we believe it right now, we wouldn't be here.
B who's traveled all the way from UK to a vocation4 in the * city is getting more than he bargain for.
We are a little apprehensive5. We've never seen anything like this before so we don't know what to expect. We've just been out shopping, we got grocers in stop talk, but we just don't know what to expect.
Although it is now at minimal6, hurricane strength Isaac dose not have intense winds that Katrina did, but NPR's Craig Layne reports the slow moving storm could cause major water damage.
The head of the National Hurricane Center Rick Knabb says Isaac's drenching7 rains are likely to cause widespread river flooding and the storm could slam coastal8 areas of Louisiana and Mississippi would significantly surge of seawater. 
We could see storm surge of 6-12 feet above ground level. That is why, some focus has been told to evacuate9.
And President Obama is urging people in vulnerable areas to hit those evacuation orders and not attempt to fail? by trying to ride up the storm. 
Now is anther time to dismiss official warnings, you need to take this seriously. 
Mr. Obama says the federal urgency management agency has deployed10 supplies and response team in all of the gulf11 coast states. C, NPR News, Washington.
The hurricane may temper the mood of the bed, the Republican convention in Tampa, but Republicans are among the less anticipating a full night of big speeches.
The soon-to-be presidential nominee12 Mitt13 Romney arrived earlier in town before his wife's speech tonight. NPR's A reports, Mitt Romney spent most of the afternoon preparing for his own speech which he will deliver two days from now. 
To the Romney's campaign, the big Thursday is not about hitting the reset14 button, instead, campaign's advisor15 Stuart Stevens says it'll be a little continuation Romney has been making since he first announced his run for president. Stevens * a report on the flight to Tampa.

In Syria, state television reports a bomb exploded in the mid-afternoon during a funeral in the capital Damascus. It says 12 people were killed and dozens more were wounded when a car bomb blew up. The victims were taking part in the funeral procession of two men who were killed in bombings yesterday.
